Nizamabad police request custody of MIM MLA for probing his speech
A fresh petition seeking custody of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi was filed in the judicial first class magistrate court in Nizamabad district even as the investigators inquiring into his December 22 speech cut short their five-day custody by a day and sent him back to judicial custody.
The Nizamabad town police filed a petition seeking prisoner transit warrant before the JFCM court requesting custody of the MIM MLA for investigation into his inflammatory speech on December 8.
The Medak police are expected to follow suit on Thursday in a case registered against Akbaruddin and others in 2005.
Custody shortened
In an operation that was kept under wraps, Nirmal police which is investigating the alleged hate speech of Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, returned him to judicial custody early on Wednesday, a day before the completion of his five-day police custody period.
In Adilabad, investigators cut short the duration of his five-day custody by a day. He was produced before the JFCM at Nirmal at 6 a.m. and brought back to the District Jail to complete the remaining term of his judicial custody till January 22.
Sources said the MLA was non-cooperative all through the four days of questioning and kept denying anything associated with the hate speech including his voice. “As there was no further use, we decided to return him to judicial custody,” an investigator told The Hindu.
Considering a petition filed by Akbaruddin’s advocates, Md. Rafatullah, V. Balraj and Md. Akbar Hussain, for grant of special category to him, Nirmal JFCM K. Ajesh Kumar granted their request. Order on a petition filed by the Nirmal police praying for recording Akbaruddin’s voice in an “open court” was posted to January 18. The latter’s advocates filed a counter claiming that though such a recording was not unconstitutional, the stage was premature for it to be done now.
Order posted to Jan. 18
Another petition filed by the Nirmal police seeking seven-day police custody of the second accused, Azeem-bin-Yahiya, was posted for order to January 18. A bail petition was filed on behalf of Akbaruddin by advocate Md. Ghouse at Adilabad Sessions Court.
Nizamabad deputy SP J. Ram Mohan Rao said the Adilabad police had been directed to produce Akbaruddin before JFCM Amareswari’s court on or before January 19.

Ghajini hai kya??
I had never heard his name before. Through this speech, he has become notorious and popular. I would recommend someone respected in the community to disown such speech, provide corrective thinking and address people to be on the path of communal harmony. Otherwise, some people may see him as their leader.
I have totally lost faith in the judiciary. Everyone knows that Akbaruddin voice in the video is genuine but after his denial, police is scurrying to forensic labs with the voice samples to prove it was him. I will not be surprised if Akbaruddin will be released soon due to lack of evidence by the court.
@Amzat Khan- No denying that VHP, Bajrang Dal and many more parties/organizations indulge in hate speeches and ideally a punitive action should be taken against all of them. But not taking action on them doesn't authorize Mr. Owaisi to spew poison too. Such persons should be behind the bars with strictest punishment. These people create communal riots and then lock themselves in their fortress only to watch MATCH on their TVs. They never represent any community/religion/caste but their self interests.
there should be a like/dislike button against the comments.I really wanted to like few comments posted here.
Very kiddish!
With due condemnation of the act of delivering a hate speech by Akbaruddine Owaisi recently, I am for a strong, uniform policy against all those indulging in hate speeches and thus trying to create fissures between communities and disturb the societal peace and harmony.
I want to question the moral and national integrity of the MIM party and its leaders that why didn't they take any action against him at first place and why are they trying to field him for his wrong actions, they MIM party leaders must also accounted for the action an elected and that too member of his party, and equally case must be heard against hindu fanatic leaders be it religious or political
Every politician taken into custody suffers from Amnesia. Police
officials need to show politician his/her own photograph and then arrest
him/her only if its recognised else the politician should be sent to
mental asylum and should be left to roam around in public.
Any person violating the provisions of the constitution should be bought
to justice irrespective of which political party he belongs.these people
try to diturb the communal harmony , it may be akbaruddin or varun
gandhi or RSS or VHP or BJP none should be spared as these people get the
political mileage by polirising the mindsets of the people based on
religion.these people should be given capital punishment so that non in
future even think of try to disturb the secular structure of the country
.
Any kind of extremism, emanating from any section of the society should
not only be suppressed, but an attempt should be made to unearth this
hatred from the hearts of Indians. Neither our constitution nor our
religions permit this.
Also I wish to leave a word of praise for a comment made by A.Rahim. We
need people like you
It is indeed shocking to learn the kind of selective targeting of Akbaruddin Owaisi for his hate speech. I do not hold any brief for the man. He deserves to be punished for his speech. I have heard it, and it is not pleasant. But honestly, it is nothing compared with the hate speeches of top VHP leaders. And I am not even talking of those belonging to the Bajrang Dal. Has anyone heard or seen any action taken against them? Go to Youtube and type 'VHP hate speeches'. What you will see is not only shocking but will make you numb with fear.
He spoke a lot of ill and rubbish which was highly objectionable, used the name of religion and declared himself a brave man and said he is not afraid of anyone, then what happened now ? he is actually fooling the innocent and illiterate people in the name of religion and taking advantage to grab their votes, he is always playing with the sentiments of public for publicity, personal and political gains.
It is very shameful that a politician who is supposed to uphold the values and tenets of the constitutions is talking nonsense and is encouraged (applauded) to do so by his constituency (and so called followers). This is a clear demonstration of an intent to destroy the communal harmony, sovereignty and integrity of our Nation. It is high time that our Courts, Election Commission take suo-moto action on these inappropriate and irrelevant politicians and bar them from contesting. And to my Muslim citizens, please register your protest/dissatisfaction and do not encourage such elements in the society. When thousands gather to protest a movie made on the other side of the planet, why do we hesitate to raise our voice against an enemy within us?
We need electoral reforms to keep such shrewd politicians out of legislative assemblies and parliament.
The subterfuges of stonewalling and bouts of selective amnesia are childish ruses and even adults resort to these means from time-to-time. And it is certainly not entirely unexpected of politicians, cornered by the instruments of law, to ignore such devices. Still, in Mr. Owaisi's case, evidence in the form of videos of his speeches and his mobile phone location records of the time, might help revive his memory. Or maybe his lawyer should advise him on the futility of such ruses.
No surprise in that in fact this again proves why our leaders commence to follow communal politics. This lines of his should be made public in
his constituency and put broadly over the areas. desperately want to see
the reaction of his followers and the people who would be made his
alibi.Contradiction!
