Foster+Partners (F+P) is likely to finalise the designs of the Assembly and multi-storeyed housing units in Amaravati during a meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on September 13.
Architects of the London-based firm are scheduled to meet officials of the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on September 12, according to a press release by CRDA media adviser A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy.
These deliberations are a prelude to the scheduled laying of the foundation for the Assembly and high-rise housing complexes on September 30, coinciding with ‘Vijaya Dasami’.
In a teleconference with Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar and other senior officials on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said the master plans should emphasise on sustainability and creating a vibrant living environment, and wanted the Assembly, High Court and other buildings to reflect the cultural and modern aspirations of the people. The Chief Minister said the Capital should be home to housing, commercial and entertainment facilities, so that employees and officers of government and private organisations could walk to work.
Principal Secretary (CRDA, Energy and Infrastructure and Investment) Ajay Jain and CRDA Commissioner Ch. Sreedhar told Mr. Naidu that the Amaravati Government Complex would be spread over 1,350 acres. It would have place for houses of the Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, judges, and All India Services officers, who form the core of the government.
The Kohinoor diamond-shaped Assembly building would have a seating capacity of 250 and the council building 100.
Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary to the CMO G. Sai Prasad, Amaravati Development Corporation Limited Chairperson D. Lakshmi Parthasaradhi, and CRDA Special Commissioner V. Rama Manohara Rao and Additional Commissioner S. Shan Mohan were present.
