Foxconn India Private Limited, a mobile assembling company, will set up three regional training centres in East Godavari district.

Josh Foulger, managing director of the company, had a meeting with State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Tuesday at Timmapuram near Kakinada.

Mr. Josh told the Minister that the company was functioning at Sri City in Chittoor district where training and employment were being provided to selected youth. To facilitate the youth from East Godavari, the company plans to establish training centres in the district.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu, while welcoming the move, said the government was also encouraging private investment in the State to promote employment. He further said that new youth policy would be announced soon.

The Minister suggested Mr. Josh to establish the proposed centres at Peddapuram, Tuni, and Amalapuram in the district where the necessary infrastructure was available.

District Collector Kartikeya Mishra, who also participated in the discussion, said the training centres would help those who passed SSC and Intermediate for gainful employment. By adopting the Training of Trainers (TOT) method, every month 400 youth could be trained in these centres.

Sai Prasad, senior executive of Foxconn, V.N. Rao, project director, Vikasa, and others were present.
