The Prakasam police have achieved a breakthrough in the cases relating to gangster Mohammad Abdul Samad alias Munna by nabbing four of his close associates here.
Producing those arrested before mediapersons here on Friday, Superintendent of Police P. Pramod Kumar said the gang, which was responsible for killing 13 persons in various places in Prakasam district, had cheated many gullible people of lakhs of rupees by promising them to provide a ‘rice pulling’ metal. “The metal, they claim is much in demand for use in satellites and nuclear reactors,” DSP P.Jashua said.
Those arrested by a police team led by CI I.Srinivasan and remanded in judicial custody by a magistrate court here were Mohammmad Jamaluddin (45) alias Jamal from Bangalore, Shaikh Khadar Basha alias Beeba(33) from Rajahmundry, T Suresh Babu(43) from Hyderabad and K Appala Swamy Naidu from Visakhapatnam.
The SP said the prime accused Munna, who is now in judicial custody, had given .9 mm pistol and seven rounds of ammunition to Jamaluddin and a 7.6 mm pistol and two rounds of ammunition to Basha. Munna had also given two knives to Suresh Babu and Appala Swamy as part of their conspiracy to eliminate one Gangadhar Reddy of Kurnool and another Srinivas of Nalgonda, who had given a huge amounts to Munna and pestering for return of money.
Probe revealed that a CRPF constable Mohan Kumar hailing from Tamil Nadu had procured pistols for the gang. Questioning of the accused revealed that two more weapons were in possession of one Imran from Bangalore, the SP added.
