Srikakulam Fire Safety Department demonstrated its strength by organising rescue and evacuation operation in a private school on Saturday. The department has been conducting such programmes in various places for the last two days to create awareness among the people as part of its fire safety week.

Senior officials Venkataramana and Abbai Naidu on Saturday said that the students and parents should not be under the grip of panic whenever major fire accidents take place in the educational institutions.

They said school managements and teachers should train the students to protect themselves at the time of crisis. They explained the rescue procedure if students were caught in top floors of the institutions. Several students and parents attended for the fire safety demonstration and got clarifications over their doubts.
