Fall in cardiac casualties

: The number of casualties due to cardiac ailments during the ongoing pilgrim season at Sabarimala has come down to 28 from 45 during the previous season.

Venkitesan, 45, of Madurai died of heart attack at the Government dispensary at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam Saturday morning.

According to Thanchavur Damodaran, ABASS stretcher service captain, Venkitesan fainted while waiting inside the barricades leading to the Sannidhanam at Saramkuthi. Sanghom vounteers rushed him to the Sannidhanam Government dispensary where he breathed his last.

The ABASS stretcher service team shifted the body to Pampa for taking it to Madurai.

With this, the number of pilgrims who succumbed to cardiac ailments at Sabarimala rose to 28, said Mr. Damodaran.
