The government issued orders here on Monday relieving K. Siva Reddy, In-charge Engineer in Chief (R&B) from his duties with immediate effect for fudging his date of birth.
The orders were issued in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal’s (APAT) order which ruled that Mr. Reddy had altered his date of birth from May 2, 1954 to February 18, 1956. Accordingly, his retirement on superannuation would be deemed to have been with effect from May 31, 2012, the order said.
Government order
It may be mentioned that the government had issued orders altering the date of birth of Siva Reddy in December, 2008 during the tenure of then Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. It was challenged by S. Rama Murthy, In-charge Chief Engineer, in the APAT which set aside the alteration orders of the government and held them as illegal, arbitrary and beyond the competence of the government and in violation of Articles 14, 16 and 21 of the Constitution of India.
The government subsequently filed an appeal against the APAT orders in the High Court which upheld the orders of the Tribunal which ordered the government to submit a compliance report.
