Six persons, including five members of a family of Lingala in Atchampet mandal in Mahabubnagar going on pilgrimage to Tirumala, were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling hit a motorcycle parked on the roadside and then rammed into a tree near Puthanavaripalle in Pullampet mandal in Kadapa district on Tuesday.
According to the Mannur police, Marapathu Ramulu( 70), Pentamma (40), Hussain(15), Sonu (6) and Rahul were killed . Venkata Prasad (5), of Pullampet, who was seated on the motorcycle when three other locals were plucking tender tamarind leaves, was also killed. Kasaram Sai (12) of Pullampet sustained injuries.
M. Tillu ( 38), Sarada (32), Vijaya (32) and Chinna (20) -- who were travelling in the car, sustained injuries and were rushed to RIMS hospital. The car driver Saidulu, who was grievously hurt, was rushed to Ruia hospital in Tirupati. Rajampet RDO Vijaya Sunitha visited the hospital and said the bodies would be sent to their native village after post-mortem examination.
Two killed in NelloreNellore Staff Reporter adds: Two persons died when the car in which they were travelling hit a lorry that was coming in the opposite direction at Chillakur in Nellore district on Tuesday.
The police said that the two were residents of Ganganapalli in Chittoor district and were returning home from Vijayawada. Their vehicle reportedly had a flat tyre due to which it hit the lorry.
The deceased persons were identified as Jayalakshmi and Hariprasad. Other three persons sustained injuries. The injured were admitted at a hospital in Nayudupeta.
