DIG defends SI in YSRC leader murder case

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - ANANTAPUR :

Anantapur Range DIG Balakrishna on Tuesday defended the alleged complicity of a police SI in the murder of YSRC leader Bhumireddy Prasada Reddy, saying that it could be the attempts by a group of political leaders to malign police.

Such attempts could be ‘demoralising’ for police who were working at risk to their lives to curb the faction-feud in the district, he said.

Taking up the case on behalf of the Raptadu SI Nagendra Prasad who is facing charges of complicity in the murder, as his name plate was found at the scene of crime, Mr Balakrishna said that the SI’s nameplate might have fallen off while discharging his duties.
