The last few years have seen the popularity of devotional channels in Telugu going up and this week had one more offering coming up in the form of ‘Darshanam’.

The new channel was launched by 6TV Group, which already has 6TV and 6TV Telangana in its bouquet, at an event attended by a host of religious leaders, artists and also the Endowments Ministers of both the Telugu States.

Apart from the regular programming and discourses, the new channel acquired 300 mythological movies and five serials and two animation programmes, Yeleti Suresh Reddy, 6TV Group Chairman said at the launch. Darshanam CEO, Sivalenka Sarma was also present .

Meanwhile, the group has also been busy revamping its news arms that come in the form of 6TV and 6TV Telangana. Apart from changes in aesthetics and graphics, the primetime content too is being redesigned with popular anchor Mallanna joining Ramulamma on primetime on 6TV Telangana.

Starting May 1, the duo is expected to steer the primetime with Ramulamma holding anchor for one hour show at 7 p.m. and Mallanna doing the ‘Once More’ at 8.30 p.m.

Anniversary celebrations

This weekend, Zee Telugu is busy organising its 10{+t}{+h} anniversary celebrations, which are being attended by the Who’s Who of Tollywood and television industry .

Special sets have been set up at the venue for two days where all the big stars are to be spotted rubbing shoulders with those from small screen.

However, viewers will have to wait for a few weeks to watch the event as the channel plans to telecast it around mid-May.
