All flights landing at the Visakhapatnam International Airport were delayed on Thursday reportedly due to delay in clearance by the Air Traffic Control (ATC).

Sources said that all aircraft that arrived at the airport were delayed by 10 to 15 minutes.

‘IndiGo skips Vizag’

The Hyderabad-Vizag-Mumbai IndiGo flight was diverted without landing in Visakhapatnam, sources confirmed.

Representatives of the AP Air Travellers’ Association (APATA) and tour operators attributed the delay to the operation of military aircraft.

“The delay in the arrival of two commercial flights led to traffic congestion at the airport. At the same time, a fighter aircraft was on a sortie. This led to the lining up of about six to seven flights,” said a Navy official when contacted by The Hindu .
