Congress party’s central leadership has given the go ahead to initiate action against the nine MLAs, who defied the party whip and voted against the Government during the no confidence motion.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana told the CLP meeting, which is being held after one year on Wednesday, about the green signal given by the high command. “The party leadership has taken it seriously and we will meet the Speaker and seek their disqualification,” the PCC chief said at the meeting.

Some legislators cautioned the party leadership to be wary of loyalties of some MLAs. “We should identify such legislators,” MLC Paladugu Venkata Rao reportedly said referring to Pedana MLA Jogi Ramesh, who ditched the party during the no trust motion.

The Chief Minister said he had treated all MLAs equally and did not anticipate that some of them would indulge in back stabbing. There were others, who said the party was unable to counter the adverse propaganda launched by the opposition parties particularly, the YSR Congress. The Chief Minister called upon the legislators to gear up for polls to panchayat raj and local bodies.
