Former leader of Opposition in Legislative Council and YSR Congress leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and his son Dadi Ratnakar who unsuccessfully contested on YSRC ticket from Visakha West Assembly segment have quit the party even as party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was here on a two-day review of the party performance in Anakapalle and Viskahapatnam Lok Sabha constituencies.
Announcing his decision at a media conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Veerabhadra Rao lashed out at Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy calling him a ‘tyrant’ and blaming him for the defeat of the party at the hustings. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy does not have any democratic values and did not discuss any issue with anyone ever, he said.
“We were carried away by the show put on by Mr Reddy when we met him in the jail, however, he showed his true colours once he came out of jail. It is the good fortune of the State that the voters rejected him,” he said. “It was an impulsive decision to join YSRC and we are regretting the mistake,” Mr Veerabhadra Rao said and added that quitting was a corrective measure.
At the review of Anakapalle LS constituency, the YSRC president is reported to have indirectly accepted responsibility for the defeat. He is reported to have given a patient hearing to all the party leaders and told them that it was not appropriate to blame others for the defeat. He is reported to have told the leaders that they should not have depended on others for their success.
The Telugu Desam Party leaders and workers were afraid of defeat and worked hard, on the other hand the YSRC men had become lax as they had taken victory for granted, the party president is reported to have said. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to review the party performance in the city on Thursday.
