Congress leader attempts suicide

The Congress leader and sitting MLA of Wardhannapet, Kondeti Sridhar, made a suicide bid and fell unconscious here on Tuesday.

According to the information reaching here, Mr. Sridhar went to a mango orchard at Pedda Pendial village where he reportedly took sleeping pills. He was rushed to a private hospital in Hanamkonda. His condition is stated to be stable.

TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, sitting MP S. Rajaiah, and DCC president N. Rajender Reddy visited Mr. Sridhar at the hospital.

Mr. Lakshmaiah said that Mr. Sridhar was under severe stress due to hectic campaigning for the past one month. Financial problems were stated to be the reason for his extreme step. It was also said he was nervous about the outcome of the elections.
