Farmers of Gani and Sakunala villages, whose lands were taken over for the mega solar project, will be disbursed compensation by July 15, District Collector Ch. Vijayamohan said on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting with farmers of the two villages in the Collectorate conference hall, the Collector said the farmers need not be perturbed on getting compensation if they can prove that their lands were under cultivation.

When former Minister K.E. Prabhakar and Kurnool District Cooperative Central Bank Chairman M. Mallikarjuna Reddy sought re-verification of the beneficiary list, Joint Collector C. Harikiran said verification of 60 per cent of the farmers was completed. Verification of the remaining 40 per cent farmers would be completed by June 25 and a report would be forwarded to the government to disburse compensation by July 15, he said.

Besides paying compensation for farmers, the two villages would be developed and their children would be provided educational facilities and imparted skill development, Mr. Vijayamohan said.
