“Poverty and lack of facilities are never an obstacle to success,” said AP Tribal Welfare Department Director Gandham Chandrudu presenting his life experiences and the hard work he had put to achieve his goal of becoming a civil servant. Mr. Chandrudu was speaking at the Human Library programme organised by the State Public Libraries at the Tagore Memorial Library in the city on Sunday.
He said that with discipline and dedication one can achieve any goal. “The visit of a Collector to my school had a positive impact on me and my career. Also, a question by a teacher while I was working in railways strengthened my commitment and triggered me to pursue civil services career. I have walked five kilometres every day for the sake of education and the efforts paid off later,” he said.
While interacting with the participants, Mr. Chandrudu said one should sacrifice part of family life while serving society but ultimate self-satisfaction fills the gap. Senior citizen and former Panchayat Raj employee P.S. Hanumantha Rao also shared his experiences with the participants at the programme. Mr. Rao said that he joined the department for a salary of ₹47 about 40 years ago. “Courage and sincerity are most important qualities one should have and unnecessary expenditures are the root causes of several problems in families,” he said.
Library Officer M. Jhansi Rani, APJF president Ch. Ramanjaneyulu, Vivekananda Youth Association president V. Krishna Prasanna, Vijayawada Cycle Club general secretary V. Satyanarayana and others were present.
