While condemning the attack on Velugu Assistant Project Manager at Gajapathinagaram on Tuesday by some DWCRA women and supporters of sarpanch and MPTC member, Collector Vivek Yadav said pending legal action against them, Zilla Parishad CEO and District Panchayat Officer will serve notices on the elected representatives.

Talking to the media on Wednesday, Mr. Yadav, who received a memorandum from Velugu staff at his camp office, said that the elected representatives must follow the model code and assaulting a government servant was not justifiable. He said development would be possible only if both government employees and elected representatives worked together.

Meanwhile, the police registered cases under IPC Sections 353, 342, 323, and 334 against six persons, including the sarpanch and the MPTC member.

Tribals boycott JB

On the penultimate day of the Janmabhoomi programme, officials continued to face the wrath of tribal people in Kurupam Assembly constituency. At Gotivada panchayat in Kurupam mandal, tribal people boycotted the programme demanding a written assurance from officials on laying of a road to the panchayat. Thimmaka Dalamma, sarpanch of the panchayat, complained to officials present that their demand for a road in the last phase of the Janmabhoomi was not settled till date. As a result, they had been facing problem in shifting pregnant women to PHCs. She also sought to know the reason for construction of toilets when the tribal people have no houses at all.
