: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed dissatisfaction on Monday at the tardy progress of work related to Krishna Pushkaram , and warned that erring contractors would be blacklisted.
Mr. Naidu said the result was dismal with less than 50 per cent work being completed in all the departments concerned despite seven review meetings being held till date. The Chief Minister warned of disciplinary action against the service providers and departmental heads as well as secretaries and it would remain a stigma in their career record.
“Don’t compromise on quality and complete pending work by July-end,” he told officials. The officials would be answerable for any spill-over work and the quality of work would be checked subsequently, he said. The Chief Minister sought submission of an integrated action plan of all the departments executing work in a week. He named the daily harati to be given to the Krishna river as “pavitra harati.”
Stating that he had personally invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inauguration of Pushkaram, he said two to three Ministers must personally call on peethadhipathis and invite them with due respect. Central Ministers and MPs from A.P. would invite President Pranab Mukherjee and other dignitaries.
Food festivals would be organised in Vijayawada, Amaravati and Srisailam and a laser show would be arranged in Vijayawada and Srisailam. The inaugural function would be held on August 11 and cultural programmes would be arranged daily.
Mr. Naidu planted a sapling and put pebbles in a soak-pit built on the premises of the Kurnool Collectorate. He heard the Pushkaram theme song at the end of the review meet.
