Andhra Pradesh Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has said their government will give clarity on the farm loan waiver issue after the Cabinet meeting scheduled for July 26.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had already agreed for rescheduling loans and moratorium on repayment and the State government was working on ways and means to reduce the burden of debt on farmers, the Minister said speaking to reporters here on Friday.

“Instead of cooperating with the government in its efforts to make the farmers debt-free, Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy is indulging in mudslinging”, the Minister alleged and asserted that modalities of providing relief to farmers would shut the mouths of the detractors of TDP government, including Mr. Jagan.

Suggesting Mr. Jagan to be a responsible Opposition Leader, Mr. Rao sought to know how he could make sweeping statements against the government as it was in office only for a month now. The Minister criticised Mr. Jagan for keeping quiet on the TRS government in Telangana on the same issue.

Turning to Mr. Jagan’s comments on the government plans to earn revenue from red sanders, Mr. Rao alleged that the YSR Congress was protecting red sanders smugglers, including Gangi Reddy.

Reacting to the YSRC president’s criticism of TDP for encouraging defections, Minister for Labour and Employment K. Atchannaidu said if at all the former had to blame anybody it was his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The Ministers said A.P. government was making arrangements for return of State pilgrims to Chardham and other places in North India who were stranded in different parts due to rains and landslides.
