The campaign for municipal elections comes to an end by Friday evening. Winning these elections will be a challenge for at least four important leaders from the district — K. Chandrasekhar Rao (Gajwel-Pragnapur Nagara Panchayat), C. Damodara Rajanarasimha (Andol- Jogipet), T. Jayaprakash Reddy (Sangareddy and Sadashivapet), J. Geeta Reddy (Zaheerabad) — and also for TDP legislator Mynampally Hanumantha Rao (Medak).
The main contest will be among the Congress, TRS, TDP and partly with BJP and MIM. As many as 845 candidates are testing their luck. In Sangareddy, Sadashivapet and Zaheerabad -- Muslim minorities will be a deciding factor in the outcome of the result as they constitute a considerable section of voters. MIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother, Akbaruddin, had already campaigned earlier in these municipalities. Winning the Gajwel-Pragnapur Nagara Panchayat is a challenge for the TRS and the party has deployed a large number of cadres from Siddipet. It is facing stiff resistance from the Congress and TDP. Mr. Damodar Rajanarasimha now is a little comfortable at Andol after P. Babumohan quit the TDP. All political parties spent their energies as even the trends of polling in these elections will be an indication for the other elections. The municipalities going to the polls are as follows.
