CITU on Monday urged people to form village committees tooppose establishment of atomic power plant in Kovvada of Ranasthalam mandal.
CITU released posters in Ranasthalam as part of launching fresh agitation against the plant. The posters will be pasted in all villages to garner support of people. Addressing the media atRanasthalam, CITU State vice-president D. Govinda Rao said completion of land acquisition should not be seen as an approval of all people of Ranasthalam mandal and Srikakulam district for construction of the plant.
He alleged that the government could get the consent of a few people living in Kovvada and surrounding villages over land acquisition but it failed to get the opinion of others who had every right to express their opinion about the project.
CITU district secretary P. Tejeswara Rao, vice-president Ch. Ammannaidu said the process of forming village committees had already started in several villages.
A high-level team of CPI(M) will also visit Kovvada and surrounding areas soon.
