Bhavani, 20, of Punganur town, a third year engineering student, who reportedly went missing from her house on Tuesday night, was found dead in the Subbanna Cheruvu tank on the the outskirts of the town on Wednesday.
According to the Punganur police, the girl was recently given a mobile phone by her parents. As she reportedly kept herself busy browsing the net on mobile for long hours, her mother reportedly cautioned her to avoid the practice.
Bhavani’s mother reportedly chided her on Tuesday night, while the latter was found with the mobile. Close to midnight, the parents found their daughter missing. They alerted the neighbours and the police, and a search was launched.
On Wednesday morning, locals found an unidentified body floating in the tank, which was later identified as that of Bhavani.
