January 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:08 am IST - CHITTOOR:

Chittoor Joint Collector Narayana Bharat Guptha on Saturday directed Civil Supplies officials to complete the distribution of the government’s ‘Chandranna Kanuka’ to all eligible ration card holders in the district by January 13.

Mr. Guptha said the ration gift scheme would be extended to more than nine lakh card holders, adding that except for dal, other products had been readily packed. “Distribution has started in several mandals. Additional counters will be opened wherever necessary. We are getting additional stocks of dal from Maharashtra by Sunday night. We are confident of completing the distribution by January 13,” he said.

He added that more than one lakh ration cards had been deactivated, as they had not been linked with Aadhaar.
