Union Minister for Textiles Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Saturday said that Congress party had erred in announcing its decision in favour of Telangana on December 9, 2009 fearing that TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao’ fast unto death would turn fatal fro him.
“An impression to this effect was created to the central leadership by some party men. Without realising that it was a drama, our leadership announced Telangana,” Mr. Rao said at a press conference here after a meeting of the Union Ministers and MPs from Seemandhra.
“We told the leadership before the December 9 statement that it was a drama enacted by KCR,” he said adding that the present agitation in Seemandhra region would not be visible anywhere in the world as people were spontaneously on the roads for the last 47 days opposing division.
“The high command will certainly take note of the stir and reverse its stand like it did on December 23, 2009,” he added.
Mr. Rao said that it was only after the Seemandhra Congress leaders expressed their strong opposition to the CWC’s decision that the Antony Committee was constituted to address the concerns of the region.
