CBI summons Krupanandam, Sabitha to appear on June 4

The duo were summoned after the court took into cognizance the supplementary charge-sheet filed by the CBI

The Principal Special Court for CBI cases ordered issuance of summons here on Monday to former Minister for Mines and Geology P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and former Principal Secretary of Industries Department B. Krupanandam to appear before it on June 4 in connection with the illegal mining case against OMC.

The court took the decision after taking into cognizance the supplementary charge-sheet filed by the CBI recently on the involvement of Ms. Sabitha Reddy and Mr. Krupanandam in issuance of GOs on iron ore mining licences to the OMC in violations of norms.

The CBI has pointed out irregularities in the issuance of two controversial GOs 151 and 152 in 2007 by the then Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy government while granting prospecting mining licences to OMC in its supplementary charge-sheet. The roles of both Mr. Krupanandam and Ms. Sabitha Reddy have been faulted by the investigating agency. The CBI said Mr. Krupanandam and Ms. Sabitha Reddy were equally responsible in sanctioning mining leases to OMC on Antaragangamma Konda at Obulapuram in Anantapur district in violation of the laid down procedures and in the process providing undue benefits to the mining company.
