Car driver held, Rs. 2.2 lakh seized

The police On Thursday arrested a car driver Shaik Kareemullah who allegedly stole Rs. 2.20 lakh from a pipe manufacturing factory belonging to his owner in Proddatur and recovered the amount.

Kareemullah, a resident of Vivekananda Colony in Kothapalli panchayat in Proddatur, who worked as a car driver of Bhoomireddy Venkata Sivarami Reddy, owner of Maruthi Plastics factory in Proddatur, stole the amount on September 11, the police said. He was arrested at Yerraguntla railway station today.

Youth feared drowned

A 25-year-old man identified as Anji was feared drowned in the Kundu river near Madur in Chapadu mandal, when he went for a swim along with seven friends on Thursday. He slipped and got washed away in swirling waters. Chapadu sub-inspector Giribabu and staff launched a search to trace Anji.

Body found on rail track

A 45-year-old unidentified man’s mutilated body was found on the railway track between Nandalur and Mantapampalli railway stations in Rajampet constituency on Thursday.

The man’s face was mutilated beyond recognition. He was clad in a white dhoti and brown-coloured shirt. Head constable Ramachandraiah of Nandalur Outpost Railway police station registered a case and sent the body to RIMS hospital at Kadapa for post-mortem.
