Telangana chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hailed Union Budget as good "overall", but expressed disappointment at there not being enough for the manufacturing sector.
"We are poised on the runaway to success", declared State unit chairperson Vanitha Datla. The infrastructure sector is expected to get boost, she said, welcoming the announcements related to skill development and promotion of start ups.
There, however, is "not enough emphasis on women", in the budget, Ms. Datla said, pointing that women have been clubbed with SC/ST. "It shows we are minority", she said. Apart from the one related to Qutub Shahi tomb, there is no announcement specific to Telangana, including the State not in the list of those where premier institutions are proposed.
Vice Chairman of CII Telangana Nrupender Rao said that the budget was a disappointing one given that it was expected to provide a filip to the manufacturing sector. "We were expecting a special investment allowance to create additional manufacturing capacity", he said, adding that there was nothing in it to boost exports.
"Other sectors are happy", he said to highlight the disappointment of the manufacturing sector.
The CII southern region chairman (Agri and FP sub committee) said it was a forward-looking budget. On the overall rating of Budget by CII Telangana on a scale of 10, he said it was "7.5".
The budget, according to Shakti Sagar, managing director of ADP Pvt. Ltd, was focussed on start ups in line with the Make in India mission. It also ensures continued focus on the digital India programme, he said, declaring: "It is good time for IT industry. "
The gathering of industrialists sounded cautiously optimistic and felt the impact of the budget proposals would be known only after going through the fine print.
