The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
The APCC chief was accompanied by Ministers N. Raghuveera Reddy, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Kanna Lakshminarayana during his interaction with the Governor. The meeting comes in the light of resignation submitted by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, eight Ministers and MLAs who are considered to be loyal to him.
The four senior leaders who called on the Governor continue to be staunch loyalists of the Congress and have expressed their resolve to continue in the party in spite of the party leadership’s decision to bifurcate the State. Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy said the meeting had no political significance and the interaction was centered primarily on the political situation in the aftermath of Mr. Kiran Reddy's resignation.
The Ministers conveyed to the Governor their determination to continue in the Congress and exchanged views on the options before the Governor. Mr. Narasimhan is learnt to have told the Ministers that he had not sent any report to the Central Government so far, but for briefing the officials concerned about the resignation of Mr. Kiran Reddy.
He assured them that he would take recourse to the options available to him in accordance with the Constitutional provisions after duly consulting the Union Government.
