Activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday in protest against the alleged ‘reign of terror’ unleashed by the ruling Marxists in Kerala.
Leading the protest, BJP Prakasam district president P.V. Krishna Reddy contended that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had totally failed to provide protection to leaders of Sangh Parivar organisations as the attacks continued unabated in that State, including in Mr. Vijayan’s native Kannur district.
Rashtirya Swayam Sevak Sangh Pramuka Pracharak T. Hariprasad, Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP ) city secretary S. Venkateshwarlu contended that the activists of the CPI(M) hounded the workers of Sangh Parivar organisations especially after assumption of office by Mr. Vijayan.
‘Jana raksha yatra’
In Tirupati, activists of Bharatiya Janata Party and its youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha took out ‘Jana raksha yatra’.
The protest march, started at Nalugukalla Mandapam in the heart of the city, condemned the killing of 283 RSS workers in Kerala, allegedly by Marxist workers. “As many as 200 of them were killed in Kannur, the native district of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan,” party State official spokesperson G. Bhanuprakash Reddy said. Accusing the Kerala government of officially encouraging the killings, he said that political parties should fight on ideological grounds and not resort to violence, leading to bloodbath like in Kerala.
Slogans raised
In Srikakulam, BJP staged a protest against the attacks on party activists in Kerala. BJP senior leaders Pydi Venugopalam, Pudi Tirupati Rao, Kotagiri Narayana Rao, Challa Venkateswara Rao and others raised slogans against the LDF government alleging that Left parties were responsible for it.
