The BJP, which was at the receiving end of the massive outrage of netizens of the State, had on Sunday disabled the ‘reviews’ section on its Facebook page.
Protesting against the poor allocations in the Union Budget and the unfulfilled promise of the special package, netizens started a ‘bad rating’ campaign from February 2. When last seen before the withdrawal of the reviews section, the page had an overall rating of just 1.1 stars from 34,000 users. About 33,000 of them gave the one-star rating and more than a 1,000 the five-star rating. Before the campaign began the page had been reviewed by only about 17,000 users and the one-star rating was given by only about 1,400.
The way the number of five-star ratings came down from 14,000 to just a 1,000 in three days had raised doubts over the campaign and possibility of such change of existing reviews.
The online campaign is going on. Users are taking to the comments sections of the posts by pages of the BJP and the Prime Minister. They have also started hashtag campaigns with the terms APSpecialstatus, APDemandsSpecialStatus, BJPcheatedap, #budgetneglectsap and others on Twitter. Some of the Twitter users are calling upon the cinema stars to support the campaign and Tweet about the public concern.
