Bid to shift TS books from Archaeology library thwarted

An attempt by officials of the Archaeology and Museums department allotted to Andhra Pradesh was thwarted by the staff of Telangana the department’s library in Gunfoundry here.

Though, the incident took place on Tuesday, it came to light on Thursday. According to official sources, on Tuesday afternoon, some officials allotted to Andhra Pradesh were shifting a half-a-dozen gunny bags from the library. When those allotted to Telangana asked what was happening, they were told it was just old newspapers.

A check though, revealed that under old newspapers there were actually books and other documents of great historical value, pertaining to Hyderabad State. The agitated Telangana employees took the bags to the office of the Director, B. Srinivas and wanted to know what was happening. The Director, it is learnt, appointed Assistant Director Padmanabha and Technical Assistant Saidulu and vested them with responsibility on behalf of Telangana government, to see that there was no foul play . Officials who were allotted to Telangana allege foul play and an attempt to destroy books and documents of great historical value by those who were allotted to and hailed from erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
