Bengaluru CID sleuths take custody of AgriGold accused

April 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - ELURU:

A group of CID sleuths from Bengaluru reached Eluru district jail to take five of the accused in the AgriGold case.

According to Jail Superintendent Raghavendra Rao, the team, led by CID DSP Nanjun Gowda and another DSP, came to the jail on Thursday morning and showed the order issued by the First Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bengaluru, to produce the accused -- Avva Venkata Rama Rao, Avva Venkata Seshu Kumar, Immadi Sadasiva Varaprasad, Kamareddi Sriramachandra Rao and Patanlal Ahmad Khan – in court on April 1.

A mild tension prevailed near the jail premises as the depositors raised slogans against the accused, who were brought out of the jail at around 9.30 a.m. The depositors tried in vain to stop the police vehicle in which the accused were being shifted.

On February 12, the accused were arrested after an eight-hour interrogation by the CID. The government handed over the case to the CID two years ago.
