The SSC examinations may begin on March 26, but the real test has already begun for the headmasters and teachers of government schools in Srikakulam.
They have to take up extra classes to achieve 100 per cent results. The government schools are expected to compete with their corporate schools.
Collector P.Lakshmi Nrusimham told them that the performance of teachers and headmasters would be reviewed periodically to ensure quality education in the district. In a high level meeting, he explained the headmasters the amount the government was spending on the maintenance of schools and salaries of teachers.
He suggested them to work with dedication to achieve the targets. The teachers will be rewarded if more number of students pass the examination with distinction.
A star-studded
affair
The opening of ‘Gosala’ on the outskirts of Kakinada last week turned into a star-studded event with film actors Brahmanandam, Tanikella Bharani and director K. Viswanath turning up for the programme. The ‘Gosala’ was launched under the aegis of noted religious scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao at Achampeta. Prior to the inaugural, a ‘Sobha Yatra’ was planned to the ‘Gosala,’ in which the film personalities participated.
Differences come
to the fore
The difference between Telugu Desam Party Ministers Ch Ayyanna Patrudu and Ganta Srinivasa Rao has come to the fore. The decision of Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu to lay foundation for a few programmes in Visakhapatnam Assembly, formerly represented by G Ramanaidu irked MP Muttamsetti Srinivas, a follower of Ganta Srinivas Rao. The MP reportedly sent a letter to Collector asking him to put off the programme. He cautioned the officials that he would take it up with Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha. Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu went ahead with the programme. The TDP rural president had nursed a grouse against the MP as the latter had taken up programmes in the constituency without informing him .
