The keyman and the trackmen of the South Central Railway (SCR) rescued a passenger, J. Rajeshwari, who reportedly fell from a moving train near Akiveedu. She suffered critical injuries.

The victim, a native of Srirampuram village, near Bhimavaram, was pursuing B.Ed. She boarded the Tirupati-Puri express train at Vijayawada on Thursday. When the train reached Akiveedu, in West Godavari district at 9 p.m., she accidentally fell off the train when it was running at a high speed and was thrown into a mud pond, adjacent to the tracks.

The girl spent the whole night in the mud and bushes, and on Friday keyman G. Gopal Krishna and trackmen, Mahesh, Rambabu, Mani Kumar and Kanakeswar Rao, who were at work, observed the woman moving in the bushes and rescued her. They provided first aid to the victim and rushed her to a hospital in Bhimavaram. Her condition is said to be critical and the railway authorities passed on the information to her family members.

The SCR officials praised the keyman and the trackmen, who rescued the passenger. The railway authorities are trying to find out how she fell off the train.
