Much needs to be done with regard to improvement of basic amenities and sanitation to keep the surroundings clean for healthy living in urban habitations, towns and cities.

The government had turned focus on this urban aspect by encouraging people, staff and officials in municipalities and municipal corporations to actively take forward the Swachh Sarvekshana drive for better results.

As part of this, a workshop was held at the district collectorate where the district officials were addressed by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu over video conferencing. District Collector R. Mutyala Raju along with other officials was present on the occasion.

Motivational stories of how people regardless of their affordability and poverty started taking part in the sanitation drive were narrated.

‘Wake up early, meet people’

The officials and people’s representatives in urban areas were asked to make greater efforts in raising awareness among all sections to achieve results in sanitation and maintaining a high-level of hygiene in their towns and cities. They were also asked to wake up early and visit localities to meet people and improve sanitation.
