Taking a strong exception to the comments made by Information Commissioner P. Vijay Babu on the department officials, the Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association (APRSA), Tirupati Division, threatened to go for a State-wide protest, if the allegations were not taken back.
They also sought an unconditional apology from Mr. Babu. APRSA president M. Narasimhulu Naidu termed Mr. Babu’s allegations of officials remaining absent from duty ‘baseless claims’ and said that many of them were busy with the works related to Tirupati bypolls. “As per the itinerary, Mr. Babu was supposed to visit the office at 4 p.m., but he reached earlier and took photos of the empty office ,” he claimed.
Mr. Naidu alleged that the Information Commissioner created problems during the implementation of protocol and spending money on accommodation, Tirumala darshan and others. “All of us were in the office, busy with the by-election works,” he added. However, the members could not give convincing replies to the queries posed by the media on certain issues raised by Mr. Babu.
