The A.P. Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association is chalking out plans to intensify its stir for a unified State from September 16, said its president P. Ashok Babu.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that following the successful conduct of the ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting on September 7, the time had come for them to step up pressure on the Central government in New Delhi.
On September 12 & 13, ‘Save Andhra’ awareness meetings would be held at village-level across all the districts in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, followed by meetings on September 14, aimed at women employees.
On September 15, the State executive of the APNGOs’ Association would meet to draft an action plan on the future course of action and on September 16, the action plan would be firmed up and announced after consultations with different employees’ associations.
Mr. Ashok Babu said that they were also waiting for September 16, when the A.P. High Court was expected to deliver its judgment on a public interest litigation on the ‘Samaikhyandhra’ agitation. “Only after the judgment is given will we be able to come out with our action plan,” he said, when asked about the increasing number of appeals from different sections of society about exempting educational institutions and APSRTC from the strike.
The NGOs demanded an enquiry into instances of 13 buses carrying Seemandhra employees being attacked with stones by motorcyclists wearing helmets while they were going back to their native places after the ‘Save Andhra’ meeting. Mr. Ashok Babu wanted the culprits brought to book.
