A.P., TS resolve protocol issue

March 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:12 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A major protocol issue was resolved in connection with simultaneous budget sessions of AP and Telangana Assemblies at their common premises here from March 7 when it was decided that the Speakers, Chief Ministers and Ministers of both the States would use the same gate for entry and exit.

Gate I, which is close to the traffic junction opposite Ravindra Bharati, was traditionally used for entry and exit of the Speaker, Chief Minister and Ministers in the combined State. The tradition was followed for the Assembly sessions of AP and Telangana when they were held separately last year. Since they will take place simultaneously from March 7 this time, it was not clear till today if the same would apply .

The issue was thrashed out at a luncheon coordination meeting of Speakers Kodela Sivaprasada Rao (AP) and S. Madhusudana Chary (Telangana) and Chairmen of Councils A. Chakrapani (AP) and K. Swamy Goud (Telangana).

While there was no official briefing for the media, it was learnt that initially there was a proposal for Telangana Speaker, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, his Cabinet colleagues and MLAs of the State to use Gate I to enter the complex and leave from Gate II for their AP counterparts. However, a senior official informed it was mutually agreed later that Gate I would be for Speakers, CMs and Ministers of both the States, while Gate II opposite All India Radio station would be used by MLAs. The media persons would be allowed through the arch leading to Royal mosque. As for the check points where people walk through doorframe metal detectors, it was agreed that they should be manned by police working for both the States.

Agree to have common entrance and exit for Speakers, Chief Ministers and Ministers of both the States during their respective budget sessions
