The Andhra Pradesh government would revoke the GOs issued by the previous Congress administration extending certain concessions to private port developers before the bifurcation of the united State, Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu said here on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters here, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said normally a concessionaire agreement would be entered with the private developers setting out certain terms and conditions, which would also include the zone of influence to be given to them.
The previous government in most cases had given right of refusal to the private party up to 60-70 km on either side of the port being developed.
The port, which enjoys the right of refusal, would have to agree if another port has to be developed adjacent to it. It would lead to a kind of monopoly.
“We want to cancel those GOs. Otherwise new ports can’t come,” he added.
He said Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam and Visakhapatnam were among the ports being developed with private participation.
Policy statements
He said that besides introducing the Capital Region Development Authority Bill, a few other bills to replace ordinances would be tabled in the brief winter session of the Assembly, beginning December 18.
They pertain to reduction of VAT on aviation turbine fuel, dissolution of temple trust boards and market committees.
Mr. Ramakrishnudu said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was likely to make a statement on Smart Andhra Pradesh.
The government would also make statements on sand mining policy, auction of red sanders, debt redemption scheme and pensions.
