The Andhra Pradesh government proposes to establish five grids -- water grid, power grid, gas grid, road grid and fibre optic grid, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said here on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters here, he said the State’s development and planning would be based on those grids. The government was also keen to make the drought-proof in the next five years, he added.
Meanwhile, Panchayat Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said the proposed water grid would be on the lines of the one established in Gujarat and was meant to serve drinking water and industrial needs across rural and urban areas in the State.
He said that an expert committee would be appointed to suggest the modalities for implementing the proposed grid. About 154.99 TMC of water was expected to be stored through various reservoirs and there would be five to six zones in the State, each having its own grid.
The State would create a water grid corporation to implement the project.
