The District Education Officer (DEO) on Friday withdrew recognition to the Anaparti school, where a Class I student was forced to drink urine, allegedly by his teacher. The DEO, Mr. Srinivasa Reddy, said he inspected the school, 30 km from here, on the instructions of the District Collector but did not get proper response from the management.

Students in the child’s class gave conflicting versions of the incident. Some said the teacher tried to make the boy drink urine, but the latter did not oblige. But the boy stuck to his guns and told the DEO that he took urine after his teacher, Gummadi Satya Gowri, reprimanded him and three others.

Circle Inspector K. Naga Mohan Reddy said he hoped to arrest the teacher in a day or two.
