AP Congress to stage dharnas on August 4

July 29, 2014 12:31 am | Updated 12:31 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Protesting against the attitude of the AP Government Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy has given call to the party workers to stage dharnas in front of the district Collectorates on August 4.

‘TDP govt. has failed miserably’

Alleging that the TDP Government has miserably failed to keep its promise of crop loan waiver, Mr. Raghuveera said the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was trying to dilute the poll promise. He demanded that the Government has to waive the Rs. 87,000 crore crop loans, Rs. 18,000 crore DWCRA and weaver’s loans.

The APCC chief at a press conference here on Monday said the TDP Government’s attempt to impose restrictions on implementing the waiver was nothing short of taking the beneficiaries for a ride.

He said it was unfortunate that the Government was not restricting the benefits to one member in a family and that too Rs. 1.50 lakh for the farm loans and Rs. One lakh for DWCRA borrowings.

He reminded Mr. Naidu about the poll promise he had made that all the farm, DWCRA and weaver loans would be written off. He faulted the Government for not expediting the process of waiver and gave a call to the party cadre to stage demonstrations at the Collectorates on August 4.
