Imagine the plight of a B.Sc. student who was issued a B. Com certificate by the university and his embarrassment when he became aware of the error during a job interview.

Attada Srihari, a resident of Nandigam, Srikakulam district, experienced such a situation. A B.Sc. student from the BS and JR Degree College, Tekkali, Srihari cleared his examination in 2015-16 with chemistry, botany and zoology and was issued the original certificate with B. Com. by the Andhra University. He received it by post at his residence but did not cross-check it

He applied for a job in 2017 and it was at the interview that the mistake was pointed out. He approached the university officials immediately who promised to rectify it in 15 days. But after months of wait, when nothing had moved, he approached the media.

Registrar of AU Prof. Umamaheswara Rao said the officials took note of it and action had been initiated to get the certificate corrected by Monday. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao also enquired into the matter.
