AgriGold Customers and Agents’ Welfare Association President Muppalla Nageswara Rao on Sunday said that the State government released a GO to pay compensation of ₹1 crore for 20 victims who had committed suicide over the AgriGold Company’s issue.

Speaking to The Hindu from Allagadda in Kurnool District where the association organised a ‘Chaitanya Yatra’, he said that the government was all set to release another ₹4 crore next week as compensation to victims. “The paper work is completed and a G.O will be released soon. These are positive signals of a relentless struggle by our association to bring justice to lakhs of customers and agents who were severely affected by the imbroglio,” said Mr. Rao. Mr. Rao appreciated the State government‘s step attaching the company properties worth ₹8000 crore and also hailed the decision to nullify the sale of a property in Tirupati by members of the family that owns the company. The sale of property worth ₹14 crore was declared null and void,” he added. He said the association welcomed the decision of the State government to invite established companies to take over the AgriGold Group of Companies but cautioned that the interests of the 32 lakh customers and agents spread over eight States should be protected.

He said the yatra which started from Ichchapuram from August 16 has completed 25 days and would culminate in a public meeting at Anantapur on September 17.
