AgriGold issue: CPI plans protest

May 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KURNOOL:

The CPI will organise a protest with nearly two lakh AgriGold victims in Vijayawada on June 15, party State joint secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao has said.

At a meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Rao urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to intervene and render justice to the agents and customers of the company before June 14.

Mr. Naidu, who managed to get back international red sanders smuggler Kollam Gangi Reddy, was indifferent to the plight of the AgriGold victims, he alleged.

Several persons who invested in AgriGold died and their next of kin should be paid ex gratia, he demanded.

Urging the Government to expedite the CID inquiry, auction AgriGold properties and repay the victims, he wanted that the CID report be made public.

AgriGold agents who worked for 18 years must be given government jobs, he said.
