YSRC MLA from Addanki G. Ravikumar on Saturday held discussions with his followers on joining the TDP.
A majority of his followers from Ballikurava mandal, at a meeting held at Santamagaluru, gave him a “free hand” to take a decision, sources close to the MLA told The Hindu . The discussions remained inconclusive.
He would hold parleys with his followers from J. Pangalur and Korisapadu on Sunday. The MLA had already held meetings with the party workers in Addanki and Santamagaluru mandals and got a green signal from them to decide on the future course of action in the best interests of the people of the constituency. Mr. Ravikumar, a former Congress MLA, crossed over to the YSRC on the eve of the 2014 elections to retain the prestigious Addanki seat. He defeated senior TDP leader Karnam Balarama Krishnamurthy’s son Karnam Venkatesh.
At least three YSRC MLAs are likely to follow suit, TDP sources said.
Candlelight procession
Meanwhile, YSRC activists took out a candlelight processionprotesting against the TDP luring legislators. “This is nothing but murder of democracy,” alleged YSRC city president K. Prasad.
