Star hotel, water sports and amusement park will come up as part of the action plan, says Municipal Commissioner K. Kanna Babu

An ambitious action plan to give the much-needed facelift to the city has been unveiled by Municipal Commissioner K. Kanna Babu. The main features of the action plan include widening of main roads including the Donka Road, GT Road, Lakshmipuram Main Road and the road leading to Hanumayya statue at Gujjagundla.

The Commissioner said that major junctions would be beautified as per designs made by the country’s best designers. A much-needed convention centre could be a reality soon with the Commissioner placing a proposal for construction of a convention centre at Manasarovar Park near Takkellapadu.

Mr. Kanna Babu said a convention centre along with a 3-star hotel could be built on the park spread over 50 acres. He said a 125-acre pond at Nallapadu would be an ideal place for water sports and amusement park. A waste-to-energy plant would be built soon, he said.

On taxation, the Commissioner said property tax rates on residential properties have remained unchanged since the year 2002.

The action plan was presented to Ministers P. Narayana and P. Pulla Rao at a meeting here on Saturday.
