Anantapur SP S. Syam Sundar said that the recent acid attack case filed by a woman was fabricated and aimed at taking revenge on the accused in the case.

Speaking to the media in Anantapur on Thursday, he said that N. Vani who had filed a complaint on September 3 against two accused — Raghavendra and Ramakrishna — for attacking her with acid after harassing her for the past few months, had actually staged the attack to take revenge on the accused. She sustained over 30 p.c. burns and was treated at Anantapur Government General Hospital but was later sent to NIMS, Hyderabad for better treatment. She is now being treated at Anantapur after being discharged from NIMS. The SP said that it had been verified by eye witness accounts and other substantial evidences that both the accused were present at Battalapalli at the time and date when the attack took place. He said that the police would look into taking action against the woman for filing a false case and misleading the police.
