The long-pending inauguration of TUDA's Babu Jagjivanram Park at Bairagipatteda, which finally happened on Sunday, added much-needed additional lung space to the temple city.

Though the park was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by unveiling the plaque during his recent visit to the city, the facility was formally thrown open to the public on Sunday.

Legislator M. Sugunamma and TUDA vice-chairman V. Vinaychand formally invited citizens to the park.

The foundation stone for the park was laid by Meira Kumar, former Speaker of Lok Sabha and daughter of Babu Jagjivanram in April 2013. She also opened the statue of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Developed at a cost of Rs. 2.24 crore, the park has something for all age groups, including gardens, solar power plant, mini theatre, e-toilets, rain shelter, equipment for physical exercise, children's play area, jogging track and free Wi-Fi. The walls have paintings that are as colourful and refreshing as the exotic flowering plants at the park.
