Soldier laid to rest

The mortal remains of Mamidi Nagaraju (27), an Army soldier, who was killed in an avalanche in Kashmir last week, were laid to rest at Maradam, his native village, in Dattirajeru mandal in the district with police honours. As a mark of respect, the police fired three rounds in the air.

Representatives from the Defence, Collector Vivek Yadav, Parvathipuram RDO Govinda Rajulu, Bobbili DSP Sowmya Lata, YSRCP district president B. Chandrasekhar Rao, former MLA Botcha Appala Narasaiah, and others paid tributes by placing wreaths on the body.

After consoling his family members, Mr. Yadav said that the State and Union governments would assist the family in all aspects.
